Our story

Illegal Demo is an innovative music production group known for its groundbreaking contributions to the underground UK Garage, Bollywood and Bhangra music scene. Formed in the late 90s in Preston, United Kingdom, the group began as a collective of friends with a shared passion for experimental sounds and a desire to push the boundaries of traditional music genres. The founding members, Ambrish (K18) Producer, Chand (Trespass) Engineer, Manny (Lyrical Rider) MC, got together at the local Temple for festivals and quickly bonded over their eclectic tastes and rebellious spirits.

Illegal Demo’s music is a fusion of electronic, UK Garage, Bollywood, Bhangra Desi RnB and avant-garde elements, creating a unique and often unpredictable soundscape. Their style is characterized by upbeat, heavy basslines, intricate synth work, and emotionally charged vocals. The groups influences range from 2-Step UK Garage and Bhangra music to contemporary electronic and experimental artists, drawing inspiration from bands like Rishi Rich, DCS, Sahotas ,and others alike.

The trio’s rise to prominence began with their self-released First Single Released, “Dekh Jawani” Album: Urban Flavas, Label: UntouchablesUK (2001), which quickly gained traction in the commercial Bhangra music community. The tracks raw energy and unpolished sound resonated with listeners who were tired of the same old music’s formulaic approach. Illegal Demo’s DIY ethic and commitment to authenticity helped them build a loyal fanbase.

Their debut album, “ILLEGAL DEMO THE ALBUM” (2008), further solidified their reputation as pioneers of the underground scene. The album received critical acclaim for its innovative use of electronic elements and thought-provoking lyrics. Tracks like “Teri Sukh” and “Banke Paranda” became anthems for a generation of listeners.

In recent years, Illegal Demo has continued to evolve, exploring new musical territories and collaborating with other artists. Their latest single, “Millionz” (2020), showcases a more polished and refined sound while still retaining the raw energy and emotion that have become their trademark. The single delves into themes of technology, isolation, and the search for meaning in a rapidly changing world.

Illegal Demo’s legacy is one of innovation and defiance. They have carved out a unique space in the music world, challenging conventions and inspiring others to do the same. As they continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in music, Illegal Demo remains a beacon of creativity and authenticity in an industry that often prioritizes commercial success over artistic integrity.
